I started Organizing in 2006 after I lost both my parents within four months of each other. My home was cluttered with piles of paper and clothes. I did NOT want to go home at the end of the day, and I certainly did not want to have anyone come to my home. When the dust settled, I realized I had a project on my hands. I am a natural at organization; however, life events knocked me for a loop. I found that I wasn't the only one who had this experience. I found that others experience similar life events, albeit illness, first time parents, empty nesters, divorce or death. Any event that causes a life or living change can, and may create upheaval in the home.
So after I put my home back in order, I realized three things: One, I could do my organizing for others. Two, once the space was free and clear of piles and clutter, my mood lifted and I enjoyed being in my home. Three, not everyone has the time or desire to tackle such work. That is when I started organizing for others. I thoroughly enjoy what I do. Most of all, it is rewarding to see the clients’ response when they see the transformation of their space, relief and joy. Their home is now an organized place where they want to spend time and to have family and friends over.
In 2006, I was trained by a Certified Professional Organization Company. The training resulted in my Professional Organizer credentials. My instruction and hands on training were with Certified Professional Organizers governed under the National Association of Professional Organizers, NAPO, guidelines and ethics. I am forever grateful for that experience.
